Lake Mead

Lake Mead was formed as a result of the Dam. Was the Dam always called Hoover? Lake Mead is now the water supply for the Colorado River.
Also can anyone tell me why the mountains around the lake are white part of the way up?

  1. Actually, I think it was originally known as the Boulder Dam Project......before it was named after Pres. Hoover.

  2. Also, I'm guessing the white marks are from dropping water levels. All the rain now falls exclusively on the east coast! :-)
